About

Your house should have one temperature.

Truevane Heating & Air started with one van and a rule about how technicians get paid. It has not changed since.

Ray spent eleven years at a franchise operation that paid its technicians a percentage of what they sold. He was good at it, and he hated it — because the incentive was never pointed at the customer.

Truevane started in 2004 with one van and a rule that has not changed since: technicians are paid for the work, not for the ticket. It is the reason people here will still tell you a $190 capacitor fixes it when a $9,000 system is sitting right there.

What is in the van

  • A manometer for static pressure — the reading most companies skip entirely
  • Digital gauges for superheat and subcooling, not a guess by feel
  • A combustion analyzer, used on every heating call whether or not it was the complaint
  • A capacitor tester, because "it looks fine" is not a measurement
  • Floor protection and shoe covers, every visit, no exceptions

What we will not do

  • Sell a repair we would not put in our own house
  • Recommend a replacement before checking whether a smaller part fixes it
  • Charge more to work on a system we did not install
  • Add anything to the invoice you did not approve first
  • Guess at a diagnosis to save twenty minutes

How a call goes

Five steps. Every time, in this order.

  1. 01

    You tell us the symptom

Not the diagnosis. "Upstairs will not cool" is more useful to a dispatcher than a guess about the compressor.

  2. 02

    We give you a window

A real two-hour window on the phone, and a call if anything moves it.

  3. 03

    We measure

Readings before opinions. You watch the meter with us and keep the report.

  4. 04

    You approve the price

Flat rate, in writing, at your kitchen table. Nothing starts until you say so.

  5. 05

We fix it and clean up

Floor protection down, old parts hauled away, and a note of anything worth watching next season.
