Filtration, humidity, ventilation

Indoor Air Quality

Better filtration, humidity that stays in range, and ventilation in a house sealed tight enough to need it. We measure first and we do not oversell.

A wall-mounted supply vent

Filtration, humidity and fresh air. Measured, not marketed.

Indoor air quality is the corner of this trade with the most exaggerated claims, so here is our position up front: we install equipment that filters particles, controls humidity and brings in fresh air. That is what it does.

We will not tell you that a box on your furnace treats a medical condition. What we will do is measure your humidity and your filtration restriction, show you the readings, and recommend the smallest thing that moves them.

What we install
  • Media filter cabinets sized so they do not strangle the airflow
  • Whole-house humidifiers for the dry-winter houses
  • Whole-house dehumidifiers, which matter more here than humidifiers do
  • Fresh air ventilation for tightly built or newly sealed houses
  • UV lamps at the coil, where keeping the coil clean is the actual goal
  • Duct sealing, which does more for dust than most add-on products
  • Monitoring so you can see humidity rather than guess at it

What we will and will not claim

This section exists because the industry has earned the skepticism.

01

Filtration is about particles

A good media filter captures dust, pollen and dander. That is a real and measurable benefit. It is not a medical device and we will not describe it as one.

02

A thicker filter is not automatically better

A high-MERV filter in an undersized cabinet chokes the system and can cost you more in equipment life than it gains you in air quality. The cabinet has to be sized for the filter.

03

Humidity is the one people feel

In this climate, summer humidity control changes how a house feels more than almost anything else. It is also the thing an oversized AC is worst at.

04

We measure before and after

Relative humidity and filter pressure drop, recorded on the visit and again once the equipment is in.

How this is priced

  • In writing before anything starts
  • Readings left with you, on paper
  • Nobody paid a percentage of the invoice

Air quality testing is free with any other service call. Equipment is quoted installed, with the annual consumable cost — filters, pads, lamps — stated up front so you can see the real running cost before you decide.

Answers before you have to call and ask

Better filtration reduces airborne particles including pollen and dander, and a lot of customers report a difference. We are not going to make a medical claim beyond that, and anyone who does should worry you.

A one-inch filter every one to three months, a four or five-inch media filter every six to twelve. If you have pets, halve it. A restricted filter is one of the most common causes of the calls we get.

In this region, far more houses need dehumidification in summer than humidification in winter. We will measure across a couple of days before recommending either.
